THE WORM
Acrylic Chalk On Canvas 102 x 127 cms

There is quite simply very little intellectual or logical or philisophical reason for this painting. I call it Bacon's Worm because it came out of my subconscious having just read David Sylvester's interviews with Francis Bacon and having been to an exhibition of his work at The Hayward Gallery. In the same week I sat at a table next to Bacon in Drones Restaurant while he ate lobster in a most flamboyant manner, which may account for the colours.
This painting began as a male torso study!
